Every Cake Needs A Recipient
(I’m trying to show my recalcitrant five-year-old daughter the benefits of reading. She likes helping her grandma baking cakes, so I try to use that to my advantage.)
Me: “So what does grandma do when she wants to bake a cake? What does she need?”
Daughter: “Cocoa?”
Me: “Well, sometimes yes, and sometimes not. What is something that is always needed?”
Daughter: “Flour!”
Me: “Yeah, that too, but what is the very first thing she needs?”
Daughter: *blank stare*
Me: “C’mon, you need it to make any cake, before any ingredient. The re… the re…ci…pe…”
Daughter: “RECIPIENT!”
