Economical Parenting

(I am in my early teens, and I have a habit of breaking things because I get lazy and careless. I have just broken another bowl.)

Mom: “Oh no, not again!”

Me: “Sorry!”

Mom: “You cost me too much, you know that?”

Me: “I’ll be more careful next time, I promise.”

Mom: “I should have put you up for adoption when you were four. That should have been a sign.”

Me: “What, a sign that I would be careless?”

Mom: “No, but you grew fast. No one would believe you were still three, so I couldn’t use you to get free stuff!”
