Easy Sleazy
(My nephew is 17 months old. His other aunt, also my sister, is nearby. My nephew is petting the cat a bit too rough.)
Me: “Easy! Easy!”
Nephew: “What’s that mean?”
Me: “Nice, soft. Be easy with the kitty.”
Nephew: “Like mommy!”
Me: *sensing something bad* “Um…yeah. Nice, like mommy treats you.”
(At that moment his mother, my sister, walks in.)
Nephew: *runs to her* “Mommy’s easy!”
Sister: “Like a Sunday morning.”
(I’ve been banned from teaching the little one new words for a while.)
