DS = Devious Strategy

(My mom, my boyfriend, and I are playing a car race game on our Nintendo DS against each other. Earlier that day my mother hit her head on the overhead lights and while nothing happened to her, the lamp got a little loose. I keep losing in the game and at some point I’m fed up. I decide to try something else.)

Me: *shortly before the next round is going to start, the countdown is already going down* “Is it just me or has that lamp moved down since this morning…?”

(Just as I hoped, my boyfriend and my mother stare at the ceiling, while I start the round with a little head-start. Finally they move their attention back to their Nintendo DS.)

Mom: *realizing she missed the start* “GAH!”

Me: *diabolical laughter, already way ahead of them*

Boyfriend: “You did that on purpose, didn’t you?”

Me: “Yup! I didn’t think it’d work!”

Boyfriend: “That was cruel!”

(I won at least once thanks to that.)
