Dog Stereotypes Are Bull

| Friendly | February 24, 2015

(The guy walking ahead of me has a Jack Russell Terrier on the lead and a Staffordshire Bull Terrier running around off the lead. A woman approaches from the opposite direction.)

Woman: “You have it wrong!”

Man: “Huh?”

Woman: “You have the wrong dog on the lead. You’re meant to keep the vicious animal restrained.”

(The woman leans down to stroke the Jack Russell, who’s growling with his hackles raised. The man’s trying to pull it backwards away from her.)

Man: “I am. Please don’t do that.”

Woman: “Who’s a cute little boy? Who’s a little darling?”

(The Jack Russell lunges forwards with a snap, and the woman barely manages to pull her fingers out of the way in time.)

Man: “As I was trying to say, my Jack Russell doesn’t like random strangers coming up to him.”

(He walked off, ignoring the rude woman’s spluttering.)
