(I was the first grandchild on my mother’s side. I was born three weeks early, and my grandparents were at a gala dinner awarding my grandfather’s charity work when they got the call to come to the hospital. They’re standing in the hospital elevator in a tux and a gown. People are staring.)

Grandpa: *indignant* “Well, it’s a special occasion! Our first grandchild! You’d get dressed up, too, if it was you!”
