Diving Into Someone Else’s Business

(My parents, my nieces aged one and two, and I are in the changing area. Both nieces are crying inconsolably, especially the youngest who I happen to be holding. Another patron is approaching me.)

Patron: “You are very irresponsible, you know that? You should be ashamed!”

Me: “What?”

Patron: “People these days. She is clearly scared, and far too little to be forced to go swimming. You should really wait. You are so irresponsible!”

Me: “Ma’am, she is crying because she had to come out of the water!”
