Disorder Tickets

I work in a small sandwich shop. When it gets really busy, we will have an employee start taking people’s orders in line and giving them their order tickets, so all the cashier has to do is ring them up.

My coworker took the order of an older gentleman in line, who then proceeded to go outside and sit down to wait for his sandwich, expecting that the kitchen would somehow know what to make him even though he had his order in his hand, and that we would give him the sandwich without him paying for it!

I didn’t realize this until he came in and yelled at me that he hadn’t gotten his sandwich yet.
