(I’m talking to my husband over dinner. He usually tells me I look cute whenever we have a date night. Tonight, he had forgotten.)
Me: “Hey, by the way…I’m cute tonight.”
Husband: “Did I forget to tell you?” *begins fiddling with phone*
Me: *sarcastically* “Oh, no, don’t apologize.”
Husband: “Thanks.”
Me: *looks at him quizzically* “Thanks? You aren’t listening to me, are you?”
Husband: “No. Did I guess wrong? Come on, half the time you don’t notice…um… I mean… I always listen to you. You are cute, and wonderful, and smart and beautiful.”
