Colorful Language

(The application forms and progress charts for my university’s education department are copied onto various color-coded sheets for elementary, secondary, and special education (just to name a few). Those forms are copied on blue, tan, and purple paper, respectively. I go to get something off the printer and one of the professors is grabbing a few forms that is needed for their weekly department meeting. It should be noted that I am the student worker, so I know all the professors in the department. So begins this conversation.)

Me: “Can I help you find something?”

Professor: *grabbing a few forms from the boxes* “No, I just need to get the blues.”

Me: “Well, I should hope not. We don’t want you to get sad on us.”
