Cold Pizza Gets A Cold-Hearted Reaction

I work at a pizza chain that has delivery and carry-out only. A jellyfish has more of a spine than my manager. Any customer complaint, and he would cave and give them whatever they wanted.

I answer the store phone.

Customer: “I ordered a pizza yesterday and it was cold. I want a new pizza.”

I know immediately that she’s lying.

Me: “Oh, I am sorry. Do you still have that pizza?”

Customer: “No, we threw it away!”

Me: “Why did you not call us yesterday to tell us?”

Customer: “I left after placing the order, and my son was at home alone. I don’t trust him with the phone and locked it up.”

Me: “Why didn’t you call when you got home?”

Customer: “You were closed when I got home.”

I talked to my manager and explained.

Manager: “Just make her a new one and tell her this is a one-time thing.”

I am annoyed, but I do what he instructs me to do.

Two weeks later, guess who calls again with the same exact problem?

Me: “Ma’am, I explained last time that we would not remake your pizza again.”

My manager is listening to me.

Manager: “Just remake her pizza, it’s not worth it.”

Me: *Thinking.* “You are such a coward.”

Most people do not know this about pizzas, but if you add extra pizza sauce, it makes that pizza extremely hot. If the sauces get on your hands or touch the roof of your mouth while it’s hot, you will scream many words you probably never used before.

I start making her pizza, and I add three times the normal sauce to her pizza. I am sure whoever picks up the first piece will have a wonderful surprise waiting for them.

Manager: “What are you doing?”

Me: *With an evil grin and innocently saying.* “Ensuring she has a hot pizza, as I wouldn’t want her to have a cold pizza again.”

Manager: “You shouldn’t be doing that.”

Me: “You don’t want to stand up to her and tell her that she is lying, then I will ensure she never does this again.”

That customer continues to order and never tips… but she never once called in about a cold pizza again.
