Children Of The Internet

(I have just gotten my very first smartphone after years of having a prepaid dumb phone. On this particular evening, I am picking my mom up from work while her car is in the shop. She has also been waiting for my husband and I to have kids, even though she already has a bunch of grandchildren.)

Me: *walking up to mom at her office* “Mom, I want you to meet your newest grandbaby!”

Mom: *looks pointedly at my belly*

Me: “No! I’m not pregnant. I finally got my smartphone!”

Mom: *look of disappointment*
