Certificate Of Remembrance

(It is 15 years ago. I am working at the office of my university’s English Department. Students have to pick up a certificate for each course they complete. The certificates are sorted according to course, and then by name.)
Student: “I would like to pick up my certificate.”
Me: “Certainly. Which course?”
Student: “I don’t remember.”
Me: “Okay, what was the name of the professor?”
Student: “I don’t remember.”
Me: “Was it a man or a woman?”
Student: “I don’t remember.”
(We finally found it after going through all the courses — about 40. And the best thing? The guy was studying to become a teacher.)
