Cash Back Attack, Part 22
Due to some technical issues, only two of our registers have cash. Because we have long lines I hop on to a register and before I open a line I shout:
Me: “This register is card only! Card only! I can only accept card payments at this register! No cash! Only card! Card only! Only card!”
Overkill? Not in retail! Literally every single customer who tries to join my line has “CARD ONLY” yelled at them. A customer in my line starts making comments:
Customer: “It’s sad how people can’t understand what card only means. It’s mostly the Mexicans though, I’ve noticed.”
She gets to the register, still making questionable remarks. I finish checking her out and she puts her card in. I turn to grab her receipt, and the drawer hits my hip as it pops out. I look at the screen.
$20 cash back requested.
I look at her.
Me: “I said card only. I literally do not have a cash drawer in here at all so I quite literally cannot give you even a penny.”
She just stares at me dumbfounded. I was able to call a manager over and that lady sat there for ten minutes waiting for a $20 bill. I asked loudly and clearly so that all the other customers in line knew exactly who to blame for their delay.
