Can’t Tell The Knockoff Wood From The Trees

(We are talking about my mum’s friend, who equates branded goods with quality.)

Mum: “[Friend] thinks only branded goods are good quality. For example, [Friend’s Son] must wear Teakwood shoes.”

Me: “Teakwood? You mean, Timberland?”

Mum: “Yes! Timberland!”

Brother: “Teakwood sounds like a knockoff brand from China.”

Me: “And that’s what [Friend’s Son] would never wear. But I can’t believe I actually managed to connect Teakwood with Timberland.”

Mum: “That’s because you know branded goods. I don’t care about such stuff. I just remember that it has something to do with forests.”
