(It is the ‘70s, when cordless microphones are just coming into use. The technology isn’t very advanced.)
Professor: “[Certain TV show] was the first to use cordless microphones.”
Me: “The only problem was that if someone walked between the microphone and the receiver, the audio would be cut off.”
Classmate: “But aren’t there trees and houses in the way?”
