Well That Joke Died

(I’m waiting in line at a checkout. I’m not at work, but I’m wearing a black suit and black tie. When I get to the checkout, the cashier shouts out at me.)

Cashier: “IT DOESN’T COST ANYTHING TO SMILE YOU KNOW!”

(Everyone in the store looks at me.)

Cashier: “IT COULD BE WORSE! WHY ARE YOU MOPING AROUND LIKE SOMEONE’S DIED?”

Me: “Because I’ve just come from the funeral of one of my best friends. You were saying it could be worse?”
