Can I Offer You A Literacy Program?
I’m working on the till, and a customer comes up with some kids’ lunchboxes.
Customer: “These are on offer: buy one, get one half-price.”
I scan them up, and no offer comes up.
Customer: “I can show you where I found them!”
Sure enough, there’s no offer ticket on the shelf.
Me: “There’s no sign here that says the lunchboxes are on offer.”
Customer: “It’s right there!”
They point at a stand of water bottles at the opposite end of the aisle, a good four or five metres away, which has a ticket clearly stating that the price and offer are for the bottles.
Customer: “See, it says it there. Your signs are so misleading!”
