Calling It On This Job

I work on a construction site, in the office (HR, recruitment, etc.). When the workers are on site, they’re not allowed to be on their phones. The boss is talking to one of our workers.

Boss: “This is your last warning, if I catch you on your phone again, you’re getting fired!”

The worker’s phone rings.

Worker: *Completely serious.* “Hold on [Boss], I gotta grab this real quick.”

The boss pauses a moment, waiting to see if this was a badly thought-out prank. When it becomes apparent that it’s not, he turns to me with a blank look on his face. I just sigh and start getting the guy’s paperwork ready…
