His Ex Did A Job On Him

(I am made redundant at my main job late last year. I am on the hunt for a new job with more hours as my casual work isn’t enough and we’re running low on funds. My boyfriend rings me from work while I’m at home.)

Boyfriend: “Hey, I just saw an interesting post on facebook. [Ex] has quit her job so there’s an opening. You should call them.”

Me: “Um, why would you want me to take your ex’s job? Isn’t that like jumping in her grave?”

Boyfriend: “It’s a job…”

Me: “Right… What’s it doing, anyway?”

Boyfriend: “Reception, office stuff.”

Me: “That’s not even my field. I have no experience in that area. Why would they hire me?”

Boyfriend: “They hired [Ex]. She’s stupid. You couldn’t be any worse at it…”
