Broke Their Fabric Of Reality

(The pet store I work in has been open for four years. Before that, the building was a fabric store.)

Customer: “Where is the fabric store around here located?”

Me: “Oh, that was in this building but moved to [Neighboring Town] five years ago. Sorry about that.”

Customer: “But where is the one near here?”

Me: “It is in the other town now.”

Customer: “No! The one in this town!”

Me: “Um, that was this building.”

Customer: *stares at me confused* “So… it’s not in this building?”

Me: “No…”

Customer: “…”

Me: “…because we are. We exist. In this building. So… they do not.”

Customer: *stares at me and then slowly backs out of the store*

Coworker: “Wait… What just happened?”
