Blind To The Truth
(I am newly out of the house and full of questions on how to do tasks. I am also visiting my mom. Also note that my mom has a rare vision disorder plus normal vision problems.)
Me: “My favorite set of sheets ripped on the seam. I’m not confident in my sewing skills. Can I take them to any old tailor or are there special ones for things that aren’t garments?”
Mom: “You could take them anywhere. I can do them for free if you want.”
Me: “No, you can’t see well enough. Thank you for offering, though.”
Mom: “I can see just fine! I just don’t always see things where they are.”
Me: “Exactly.”
Mom: “It’s not like I’m blind!”
(We went for a walk a few minutes later.)
Mom: “What does that sign say? Is that a motorcycle or bicycle shop?”
Me: “The sign says it’s a bicycle shop.”
Mom: “Well, don’t mind me. I’m blind!”
