Binders And Bin Liners And Bizarre Blasts!

I had a coworker who was an older Southern gal. We work with mortgages, so she was on the phone with customers frequently. We would often listen in because she was known for giving out religion-tainted replies during the calls. There was one call in which she told the client to get off the phone and go take a walk because he needed to “have a talk with Jesus” about his financial situation.

Her desk was completely covered in tchotchkes and knickknacks. She would add new stuff all the time, and there was barely any desk space to work. She also hoarded everything and kept binders of work procedures for departments she didn’t even work in “just in case”. She had, like, ten binders.

She had a habit of taking entire reams of new unopened printer paper and loudly ripping the whole thing up at her desk and putting it in her trash can. She stated that she had to fill up her trash can each day so that the janitor would be forced to empty it and give her a new liner; she had to have a new trash liner every day. The janitor simply emptying the trash can but leaving the same liner was unacceptable to her.

Obviously, her wasting that much new paper each day was going to catch the manager’s eye sooner or later, and eventually, she received an email about it stating that if she did not stop wasting company resources, disciplinary action would be taken. This was an email that was just between her and our direct manager.

Her response? To send a reply email that included everyone in the department and our manager’s manager, basically blasting everyone for not minding their own d*** business and threatening to contact the ADA (I can only assume she meant Americans with Disabilities Act and not the American Dental Association) over discrimination.

She immediately received a reply from her manager’s manager asking to speak with her privately, and a few weeks later, she was let go.
