Bills Are Never Free

(It’s a very windy day.)

Mom: “Go put these bills in the mailbox for me, please.”

Me: “Okay.”

(I go outside, and stand in the wind for a moment. My mom is still standing in the doorway. I pretend to throw the mail into the wind.)

Me: “I’ll set you free!”

Mom: *deadpan* “Not if you want to continue living in this house, you won’t.”
