Being On The Ball Gets You F*** All
I work in a restaurant. I had a feeling that one of my tables was going to ask for some BBQ sauce, and later that they were going to ask for a dessert menu. Both times, I grabbed what I felt they would want before going to check on them, and both times, they did ask for it, and I was able to present it to them while they were asking. They seemed quite appreciative, and I was feeling good for being on the ball.
This made it rather disappointing when, after they left, I saw that they had marked down a $0 tip on a $70 meal, with an added note:
Note: “You should learn to wait to give people things until after they’ve asked for them.”
