Behind On The Reporting

(An friend of mine who works at the local paper stopped in to my work to return a book I’d loaned her. After we talked, she picked something out, my boss rang her up, and she left.)

Boss: *condescendingly* “Oh, that was [Reporter’s Full Formal Name], She works for [Local Newspaper]. I should have introduced you.”

Me: “You mean [Reporter’s Nickname]? I know her! She just came in to return something she borrowed.”

(My boss, who loves name-dropping, looked like she’d sucked on a lemon.)
