(My fiancé and I are taking a walk with her 13-year-old nephew. An angry dog is barking at us, but is fenced in the yard.)
Nephew: “That dog is barking at us.”
Me: *sarcastically* “You should go pet him.”
Nephew: “Okay!”
Fiancé: “NO! He was joking.”
Nephew: *disappointed* “Oh, okay.”
