Banana Drama, Part 7
I have only ever received one customer complaint in my seven years working at a supermarket, but it’s one I’ll never forget.
Manager: “A customer complained about you so I need to follow up.”
Me: “Was it banana guy?”
Manager: “Oh, so you know that you upset a customer?”
Me: “He upset himself.”
Manager: “Maybe take me through what happened?”
Me: “The customer approached me and asked me where the bananas were. I told him.”
Manager: “The customer said you pointed at them sarcastically.”
Me: “I couldn’t point at them, as the big box of bananas was in my hands. I just told him “look down” and held them out.”
Manager: “The customer said you made him feel like an idiot.”
Me: “Maybe tell him to not be an idiot.”
Manager: “Yeah… that’s fair. Okay, back to work…”
