Banana Drama, Part 3
Customer: “Why are none of our bananas ripe?”
Me: “We only have the ripen-at-home ones on sale today, Madam.”
Customer: “Why are you being rude and not answering my question? Why are none of our bananas ripe?”
Me: “All the ripe bananas have been sold.”
Customer: “Why are you still being rude?! Get me your manager!”
I call my manager over as I’m confused as to how I’ve been rude.
Manager: “How can I help?”
Customer: “Your worker here is being rude and refuses to tell me where the ripe bananas are!”
Manager: “Well, we don’t currently have any as they’ve all been sold. We will get some more shipped in day after tomorrow, or you can buy some of these bananas to ripen at home.”
Customer: “You’re being very rude!”
Manager: “I’m sorry. Madam, but I don’t see how.”
Customer: “By not giving what the customer wants you’re being very rude!”
Manager: “I’m sorry you feel that way.”
Customer: “Are you not going to do anything about it?!”
Manager: “I’m sorry, there has been a misunderstanding here; I have no intentions of changing my behavior to make you happy. We apologised for not having it in stock and you’re perceiving our inability to magically change that as a personal attack. Nothing I can do about that. Have a nice day, Madam.”
My manager walks away, and I join him, leaving the customer behind shouting about us being “so rude.”
