Baggage About A Lack Of Baggage, Part 2

, , , | Right | April 28, 2025

This happened a few weeks into December. I was doing some shopping after going home from work. I saw an older gentleman walking around, clearly looking for something. I remember thinking he must live very near, as he was in a t-shirt, and it was freezing outside.

While I was at the register paying for my groceries, he walks up and asks the cashier in a very annoyed tone:

Customer: “Where are your grocery bags?”

Cashier: *Politely.* “As the holidays are nearing, the supermarket has been very busy all week, and we ran out of bags this afternoon.”

Customer: *Belligerent tone.* “How am I supposed to carry this home with me then?”

At that point, I had packed away my items (I carry my own shopping bag) and looked back. This man was buying one small pack of potato chips.

I’ll admit to looking around for a hidden camera at that point.

This man kept complaining while checking out and paying, and the poor cashier visibly strained herself trying not to roll her eyes. He did manage to carry his item out the door.
