At Least They Skipped The Chest-bursting Part

| Friendly | March 12, 2016

(I have just moved to a new city. In addition to my roommate, I have one other friend in the city. We’ve met in several conventions but for me, the friendship is strong enough that I can call him without any special reason just to hang out. We both do cosplay and he likes challenging builds in particular. He has, for example, made the alien monster from the movie “Alien.” It’s my second week in the new apartment. My roommate is in school and I’m unpacking the last of my boxes when my friend rings out of the blue.)

Me: “Hey, [Friend].”

Friend: “Hi! Where are you right now?”

Me: “Uh… home? As in, my apartment in [City].”

Friend: “Perfect! Just where I wanted you! Listen, wanna come to the mall as the alien’s personal assistant on short notice?”

Me: *taken aback* “Wait… what?”

Friend: “You heard me. Wanna come to the mall as the alien’s personal assistant? On 30 minutes notice?”

Me: “So, let me get this straight. You’re going to dress up as the alien and walk around in the mall?”

Friend: “Indeed!”

Me: “Why?”

Friend: “Because I can! So, will you come?”

Me: “…Okay. I’m on my way.”

(And yes, that’s exactly how the rest of the day was spent: hanging out with the alien and carrying its tail to keep it dry and clean. It’s been a little over a year now and we’ve been good friends ever since.)
