And You Can Quote Me On That
I have just sent a very thorough proposal to a client for services, offering them a budget option, a recommended option, and a “red carpet” option where I tag on a bunch of fun extras they could also have in addition to the services they came for.
Then the client emails.
Client: “I got a quote from another company, and their quote is $1500 less. Can you explain the difference?”
Me: *To myself.* “Probably because my company is friendly, personable, has time to answer your texts or hop on a video call anytime you want, gives you advice based on long-term strategy for no additional charge, and delivers higher-quality results than our competitors, whereas they will follow a template process with no flexibility or strategy?”
Me: *To client.* “Can I see the quote?”
I receive the quote.
Me: “Ah, it’s because the services they’re offering are equivalent to the first package I offered you, which doesn’t include half of the things you want, and is still $300 less than what you’d pay them.”
I should raise my prices.
