An Ugly Side Of Society Has Been Unmasked, Part 42
This happened early in the COVID lockdowns. Like literally every other retail worker in America, we’re dealing with a customer complaining about having to wear a mask at our cheap fast-food place. In this instance, it’s a middle-aged woman causing a scene:
Customer: “You can’t force me to wear a mask!”
Me: “You’re right, but that means we don’t have to serve you. Please leave.”
Customer: “There are no signs saying I need to wear a mask!”
Me: “You literally passed four of them on the way in, including the front door.”
An old man, maybe seventy or so (masked, of course), walks over from the waiting area, looks the lady directly eye to eye, and says:
Other Customer: “Lady, these kids are making minimum wage and don’t make the rules. Call corporate if you have a problem.”
She starts to yell something unintelligible and starts pointing at his face.
Other Customer: *Looking at her hand.* “No wedding ring? Not surprised.”
Despite all my willpower, I laughed. So did my coworker. This seemed to snap her out of her rant. She still mumbled something about corporate, cops, and laws, but did make her way out.
