An Ugly Side Of Society Has Been Unmasked, Part 35
We are days away from them our state lifting the mask rules. I live in a state where they care more about people’s health and not their ‘freedumbs’.
I see a guy not wearing a mask in the bread aisle. It’s apparent that most of the other customers are keeping their distance. But then I see a customer marching up to him that our crew has dubbed “Grandma Bada**”.
Grandma Bada**: “Why aren’t you wearing a mask?”
Customer: “Mind your own business.”
Grandma Bada**: “You’re standing here without a mask and breathing over the bread I want to buy. That’s making it my business. Why aren’t you wearing a mask?”
Customer: *A little less confidently.* “They make me sick!”
Grandma Bada**: “Son, we’ve all gone over a year wearing these things. No one likes them. I personally haven’t gotten sick since we were asked to wear them, and I’ve had a lung removed. If I can manage to breathe with one on, so can you. You can go three more days wearing a mask in public to keep yourself and others healthy, surely?”
You know the look dogs make when they look guilty? Yeah, that was his look. He pulled a mask out of his pocket and apologized.
Grandma Bada**: “See, that wasn’t so hard now was it?!”
And with that, she winked at me and walked away.
She’s my spirit animal. I see her from time to time at our local store and I always smile at her. No idea if she remembers me, but I’ll never forget her.
