A coworker and I are manning the registers. The global health crisis has been going on for well over a year and a half at this point, and our county has had a mask mandate in place (again) for over a month. A woman comes in, not wearing a mask.

Coworker: “Oh, do you have a mask?”

Customer: “No.”

Coworker: “No problem. We have some right here.”

Customer: “Masks don’t really work, you know.”

Coworker: “Well, there’s a mandate.”

Customer: “But not a law.”

Coworker & I: “…”

She did accept a mask and put it on… under her nose. We kept quiet and got her out of the store as fast as possible. Luckily, that was as far as it went.
