An Off-Color Equation

| Learning | February 2, 2015

(In history class we have to create a small project on inequality. Drawing pictures and writing poems are the usual choices. I write an equation where each variable represents a factor in inequality. When I go to hand it in…)

Teacher: “This is just lifeless. There’s no color! You’ve got to make it creative. Right now there’s just no creativity, so you gotta make it pop.”

(I went home and added completely meaningless colors to my project. The next day…)

Teacher: “There you go! Now it’s good! That’s very creative!”

(I asked her later on, and no one else had ever written an equation for the problem. But nothing is creative without pretty colors, I guess.)
