Student: “Why did you mark me down for not using figurative language in this paragraph?”
Me: “Because I couldn’t find any figurative language in this paragraph. Did I miss something?”
Student: “Well, I was going to use imagery.”
Me: “Okay, show me where it is in the paragraph and I can give you points for it.”
Student: “Well, I didn’t finish.”
Me: “…So you turned in an incomplete assignment and now you want me to give you points for the part that you didn’t complete?”
Student: *blank stare*
