Airport Security Sucks

For a while now, almost every time we flew my mom would get pulled aside by airport security. Not for a “random” search, but because SOMETHING set off the scanner. She’d always get cleared pretty quickly, but we never knew what triggered it.

The last time we flew was a nighttime flight and probably the last outgoing flight of the night, so there wasn’t a line for security to deal with. As such, they could take their time talking to her when she set off the scanners again.

And that, folks, is when we finally found out the cause: every time she went through the scanners, she’d suck in her stomach so she would “look thinner”. That would make a strange spot appear on her torso on the scanner, and explains so much.

So folks, take this lesson from my mother and just walk normally through airport scanners. And no, I’m not letting her forget that and will be reminding her every time we fly.
