Ailing From Alienation

(My sister and I are watching a series on tv, and I’m reading the description of the episode aloud.)

Me: “[Character] helps an ailing girl’s dream come true.”

Sister: “Ailing?”

(My sister has dyslexia and ADD. Sometimes words can confuse her and she doesn’t know what they mean, so I take no notice.)

Me: “Yeah, ailing as in ill, or sick.”

Sister: “Oooooh, ailing! I thought you meant alien as in Canadian!”
