Adopting A New Sense Of Humor

(Whenever my family starts to get loud or obnoxious, my sister makes it very clear that she wants nothing to do with us. Her favorite phrase is, “I was adopted.” One particular night, we are sitting at the table and laughing loudly at a conversation that had taken place earlier in the day. My mom is crying from laughter and I snort some of my drink through my nose. My sister speaks up:)

Sister: “I have nothing to do with this. I was adopted.”

Brother: “Yes, but then they gave you back!”

(My sister has since changed her phrase to: “I AM adopted.”)
