Addressing The Messes Of The Masses

Boss: “Why do your closing duties always take so long?”

Me: “I do the fitting rooms. You do realize how messy the customers leave those, right?”

Boss: “Well, you need to figure something out because I can’t keep waiting on you.”

Seeing as my boss never ventures close to the fitting rooms anyway, and I was left to figure it out, I came up with something.

I put up condescending signs in each room. They always started off:

Sign: “Are you just going to leave all the stuff?”

And they ended with things like:

Sign: “That’s why you’re not your parents’ favorite.”

Sign: “Meemaw would be embarrassed.”

Sign: “Your mother doesn’t work here.”

The number of badly behaving customers actually went down! They would return the clothes they didn’t want to me, instead of just leaving them tossed all over the floor in the fitting rooms or surrounding area. 

I left them up when I left that job. I can only imagine the look on my boss’s face when she saw them.
