(I’m telling my friend about my favorite series, which she is not a fan off, despite having never read any of the books.)
Friend: “That series is gay!”
Me: “How can a book series have a sexual orientation?”
Friend: “I mean it as an insult.”
Me: “Gay is not an insult…”
Friend: “You know I’m against gay marriage, right?”
Me: “I did not know that… Why? You’re not religious.”
Friend: “I have my personal reasons.”
(I never found out what these personal reasons were, but I have fruitlessly tried to influence her homophobic opinions…)
