A Window Of Opportunity
Our manager gave us a safety briefing that was not part of the usual roster of safety briefings and was even more “please have common sense” than the usual safety briefings (which, mind you, included “don’t go in front of heavy machinery” multiple times a year). Think “don’t run into the window” kind of advice.
Coworker: “Okay, but why are we getting this briefing? Did someone do that and get injured?”
Manager: “Yes, that incident did happen last week, and an ambulance had to be called because that employee had a bleeding head injury.”
Coworker: “Who did it happen to?”
Manager: “Oh, it wasn’t here, it was in England [headquarters]. You know how it is: someone in England falls down the stairs, we get a new elevator.”
Older Coworker: *Jokingly.* “Anybody wanna hop over there and push someone?”
