A Walking Health Code Violation

(I’m working a dinner rush with a newer coworker who isn’t exactly the brightest. They also have a strange sense of humor.)

Coworker: “Anything else on your sandwich?”

Customer: “No, that’s it.”

Coworker: *goes to cut sandwich in half* “Uh oh…”

Me: “Uh oh, what?”

Coworker: “Oh, nothing. I can’t find my knife. Gee I hope I didn’t put it in their sandwich!”

Customer: “WHAT?!”

Coworker: “Wouldn’t that be funny if that ended up in your sandwich?”

Customer: “NO, NOT AT ALL!”

Coworker: “Oh, well it might be there…” *looks on the floor* “Haha, never mind! I dropped it, so now I need a new one. Be right back!”

Me: *to the speechless customer* “I am SO sorry!”
