A Very Sound Assumption
Our hotel is large and in the middle of a tourist hot spot, so during busy season, we all wear earpieces connected to walkie-talkies so employees can talk to each other and keep busy with our hands.
A customer is checking out after staying for a week.
Me: “I do hope you enjoyed your stay with us, ma’am!”
Customer: “I did! And it’s so nice of the hotel to hire exclusively deaf people! You all need jobs too, and I had no trouble with any of you hearing or understanding me at all!”
Ironically, it takes me a second to process what I have just heard.
Customer: “Oh, do I need to talk slower? Or louder? I said—”
Me: “—I understand, ma’am! I’m so very happy you enjoyed your stay with us!”
Customer: “Yes! I’ll be writing a very glowing review about you all online!”
That is going to be a VERY interesting review!
