A Side Of Confusion
Customer: “So, I’m vegetarian. I’d like the wheat pasta with the meat sauce on the side.”
Me: “Um… I’m sorry, you’d like the meat sauce?”
Customer: “On the side.”
Me: “But the meat sauce?”
Customer: “On the side.”
Me: “I understand “on the side”, but you’d like the meat sauce? That has ground beef and ground sausage?”
Customer: *Looking at me like I’m an idiot for pointing it out.* “Yes.”
Me: “Okay… It’s just that you said you were a vegetarian… and the meat sauce contains… well… meat.”
Customer: “That’s why I’d like it on the side! What do you expect me to do, eat around the meat like an idiot?!”
Me: “You could have the vegetarian sauce? Tomatoes, herbs, and no meat.”
Customer: “And pay the same amount of money for less ingredients? You really do think I’m some kind of idiot!”
So, she got her wheat pasta with the meat sauce on the side. She ate the pasta plain, no sauce, and left the meat sauce untouched when she left, but hey, at least she wasn’t an idiot!
