A Perfectly Imperfect Score

| Learning | June 9, 2014

(Two of my coworkers are learning German. They are both at the same level but Coworker #1 can speak German with confidence but struggles with the spelling, Coworker #2 will not speak but can write and read with great skill.)

Coworker #1: “How did you do on the test.”

Coworker #2: “I’m not telling you. How did you do?”

Coworker #1: “I scored 100.”

Coworker #2: “No way. That’s it, I’m getting my test rechecked. There is no way you scored more than me!”

Coworker #1: “It doesn’t matter.”

Coworker #2: “No, no. I’m getting this rechecked.”

(True to her word she made some phone calls and begged for her test to be rechecked.)

Me: *to [Coworker #1]* “So… how much did you really get?”

Coworker #1: “87, but don’t tell her that!”
