A Parking Spot Of Bother, Part 2

, , , | Right | October 29, 2020

I work at a very busy restaurant in my city. A lot of guests will make large catering orders and pick them up because having the food delivered to their event is too expensive.

It is a pretty slow afternoon. A guest comes in and walks up to me at the host stand.

Guest: “I know you have nothing to do with this, but your whole parking lot is full and I saw five whole parking spaces right by the front reserved for ‘to go’ orders. Why is that?”

Me: “A lot of people come in for to-go orders and sometimes they have pretty big orders. We would hate for them to have to go all the way to the back corner of our parking lot with their order, especially if we’re busy and they have to make a couple of trips.”

Guest: “You’re really not going to defend that, are you?

Me: “Well, sir, if there is ever a time that you come in and our parking lot is absolutely full, you can always park in a to-go spot. We don’t regulate them.”

Guest:Well, I did!

The guest walked away. I checked our parking lot five minutes later and saw that two-thirds of our parking lot was empty.
