(In the cafeteria I spy a pair of friends of mine that I haven’t seen for about a week and go to say hi.)
Me: “Hi, guys! How are you?”
Friend #1: *gives me the darkest, angriest look I’ve ever seen* “Someday you will watch everything you love and cherish die around you and you will be powerless to stop it.”
(She then gets up to get in line for food, leaving me and Friend #2 speechless.)
Friend #2: “Her gerbil died on Monday and she hasn’t been taking it well…”
