(At a family gathering, my parents are recounting one of the singles outings where they met.)
Mom: “…and since my tent was broken, and it was pouring rain, [dad] was nice enough to let me sleep in his. Eventually we started dating, and three years later we got married.”
(She gestures to me.)
Mom: “And then three years after that, we had—”
Uncle: *interrupting, talking to my dad* “You got her into your sleeping bag on the first night, and it took you three years to marry her?!”
